I find myself wishing there were search menus in real life

written 23 Jan 2005 some time after midnight

Wading through shelf after shelf of DVD in the video store or trying to find what you’re looking for in the library is just absurd. I think I would enjoy visiting the library, especially Erie’s big downtown one that has giant glass windows overlooking our grand bay, except that once I get there, I feel like I’m wasting my time using these arcane books instead of accessing 2,323,234,323 web pages in .11 seconds with a good search.

  • I know exactly what you mean. They need an in-store touch-screen kiosk. Perhaps the most useful wish for real life is the ‘back’ button. I wish someone would invent that.

  • How about a button that makes it snow at the beach.
