Bike America 2006

written 16 Mar 2007 while the school buses headed home

The following is a video I put together using iMovie on my (still) shiny new Mac. It’s called Riding Coastal Westerlies and basically features me riding down the West coast on my bike last summer.

  • I think the best part of that trip was my general all-around unpreparedness…hence that tire you see in the Setting up Camp bit…when I bought that, I was thinking that, if I got a flat tire, that’d be all I needed to fix it.

    After pushing my bike for about two miles before another rider came by and taught me the virtues of a patch kit I felt much better…

  • yeah.. we need to figure out some sort of trip here soon.. possibly collarborate on small imovies on a regular basis.. like film for for 2 minutes at every hour and then post them side by side.. something like that..

  • Wow…that sounds cool to me… it only takes a little bit of talent, a little digital camera and your iTunes collection to make one of these.

    And whether 5 people or 20 or 0 watch it, they’re so much fun to make (both the ride and the actual putting together of the video) that it’s totally worth it.

  • Not really anything in the works…I’m out of footage, at least anything that’s usable from that trip.

    Maybe I’ll start doing this with road trips from now on too….

    Or hiking trips that friends go on, if any friends were to go on more hiking trips this year.
