“I’m too young…”

At a family reunion today, I’m speaking with some little girl who’s playing with Tristan.

Her: It’s my birthday in September.
Me: Oh yeah? How old will you be?
Her: Well, I’ll be 9. I should be 9 already.
Me: Yeah? Well why aren’t you then?
Her: I’m too young.
