Rewriting Science

written 9 Aug 2007 some time after midnight

What greater a tragedy can befall a civilization than ignorance? Why do we choose to exorcise our fellows before accepting strangers? How can we be so silently in our sitting back?!

Please, dear friends, stop the travesty, cease the tragedy, and harbor the non-animosity…

  • There is no question that Pluto is not a planet; to define it otherwise would force numerous other bodies as planets. Ceres, Charon, and multiple transuranic bodies come to mind.

Indeed, if the definition for planet were changed, it’s quite possible many other bodies would be named planets — and Pluto still not raised to the status of planet!

  • I feel you, but who determined the definition of the planets was not accurate as it had been deemed throughout history until this point. A planet is not a thing of rules which can be subjected, by a hand full of scientists alone, to weights and measures.

Stop the hate and please don’t mention Ceres and Charon in the same sentence, you know how they had that big fight the other week. :(
