My mother is a conservative, good Christian woman. She thinks Bush is a good president, I assume because she doesn’t know any better and her husband thinks so. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen her, as she would put it, “buck the system.”
One time though, when I was young, and at the time I had no idea what this really meant, but we were watching TV and an old McDonald’s commercial came on, back when their slogan was “Food, Folks and Fun.”
Her face clamored with a disgusted look at the 30 second spot. “That is so stupid. McDonald’s has nothing to do with folks. I don’t go there to meet people, and I really don’t go there to have fun.”
