Coffee Shoppists
written 24 Mar 2008 while the sun tried, at least, rising
I spend a good deal of time in coffee shops around Pittsburgh’s East End. In doing so, I overhear quite a few conversations between employees/managers and potential employees being interviewed/customers. Now, I’m a huge advocate of keeping it local, particularly when it comes to coffee shops, but without fail these conversations always include some Starbucks-bashing. Quotes like “At least Starbucks is consistent, their coffee is always consistently burned” or “Starbucks is not a service-oriented coffee shop, they’re only out to make a profit no matter what.” I just wonder if this is jealousy driven or what?
In high school, the little guy who makes fun of the bully deserves to get beaten on by him, right? Some loose morality there, but just conjecturing.
