Which is cool, if that works for him, but I personally like to enjoy the company of others. I completely agree with you, though, Paul. I just want to get a bit more satisfaction out of my daily life. I've noticed that I go through ruts, sometimes I'm out riding my bike and exploring the world daily, feeling really good about what I've accomplished with my time. Then other times I stay in the house all day long for days at a time, and it starts to bring me down. I suspect alcohol might have something to do with it, as I get older, the "down" I get from a night of drinking can be overwhelming and last for days. I'm finding more often that I am bored with the 'net. Not because there isn't anything new or cool or great (though I'm beginning to feel like I've seen it all), but because all that stuff doesn't really matter. At the end of the day I should be able to say I was a great dad and husband, worked hard (and well), did something important; playing online doesn't seem to really fit with that.
