#1 Best Selling Album on this Website All Year

written 12 Aug 2009 in the early afternoon

The Record Sales are High!As many of you may know, I am not particularly a musician, though I once played the equivalent role of Sid Vicious in a couple of punk bands during my more mohawk-having days.

Nevertheless, I have written, recorded and produced my own album. First impressions from the various supermodels, superstars and supersized coffees I have pre-released this work of sound to have been favorable, ranging from statements such as “It’s like Folk Metal meets Hardcore Easy Listening” and “I would have sworn it was Elvis Costello had it sounded completely different.”

Accusations of derivatives aside, the record is now available in full mp3 quality glory, including a sleeve you can print out and hang alongside your other platinum, gold and silicon record collections.

When Social Networking Actually Works

Last FM is fun to the times!I am no fan of social networking in the form of MySpace, Facebook, et al. Why? I’m not exactly certain. I guess I just don’t like the idea of how I interact with my friends being delegated to a website’s feature set. Or maybe it’s just that it’s too super trendy and with each of these sites being so conducive to being flavor of the month, I hate having to keep track of multiple accounts or only having access to friends who use certain sites. Whatever, etc.

Le Loupe! If I were a rock critic, I’d probably say “Le Loupe is Devendra Banhardt meets Menomena” but I’m just a lowly wayward Web designer, so I’ll say “Le Loupe rulez bro!”

Finding New Music

My coffee can’t seem to stay warm long enough. It’s either blazing hot and so I forget about it until it’s too late, or it’s too luke warm to feel like a proper companion to my cigarette. Girlfriends are often equally as drab (current situations not applicable ;) ).

NPR: All Songs Considered

The latest All Songs Considered is pretty darn rootin’ tootin’ good, with new music from the White Stripes and Sufjan Stevens, as well as four girls from my new favorite city in all of the world, Brighton UK (unfortunately their music isn’t as good as some of the other things the city as to offer.)

A song that makes me cry for all those railway men left behind…

It’s the fourth track listed here on this website.

These are the Eels, from 90′s fame “Before I Sputter Out.”

.: K e r e n A n n :.

This is a beautiful intro to the website for Keren Ann, a musician I’ve recently heard on All Songs Considered who sings an amazingly lovely song called Nolita. The animation reminds me very much of the movie Amelie.
