Bars You Can Smoke In – Pittsburgh
Note: This post refers to those bars which were going to permit smoking under the Allegheny County Smoking Ban, which never went into place. However, the state of Pennsylvania has made an across-the-board ban on smoking in restaurants and bars, unless your food sales are 20% or less of your annual sales. That means that your local dive bar that sells way more Coors Lights than hot wings will probably still be a smoker’s haven.
Below is a list of bars that you can smoke in as found on the Allegheny County Health Department’s website. Today, MayDay, May 1st, 2007, is the day that the ban was to become official across the board for restaurants and bars, apart from the following who applied for waivers and were found to be in compliance with the rules (less than 10% of sales from food and less than 10 employees.) As of this moment, I’m still a bit confused as to whether the law has gone into effect yet or not. One source says yes, another no. Whatever, here are the bars.
