German Community’s Residents Enjoy a Car-Free Life
Check out this little community in my motherland, or at least my grandfather’s mother’s land, Germany. The community of Vauban has virtually eliminated the motor car in their neighborhoods by banning vehicles on their streets. In a plan quite similar to my own from 2007 (& 2009) — the area has eliminated garages and on street parking in favor of parking garages on the edge of town. The main business district allows cars, and there is also access to public transit providing access to a nearby city.
