How to Add Someone to Your Google Analytics Account

Probably the best way to give someone, such as your web developer, access to your Google Analytics account is to simply add them to your account. This negates you needing to dig around looking for Javascript and tweaking settings on your own, and also prevents you from sharing your Google Account password (which if you use it for Gmail, Google+, search, etc. has a ton of info about you.)

Here’s how to do it.

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
  2. Click the Admin button near the top right of the page. partial screenshot of Google Analytics dashboard
  3. Choose User Management near the left side of the screen. partial screenshot of a Google Analytics page showing a dropdown of choices
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter in the email address (Clients, if you’re trying to give me, access, use clicknathan@gmail.com) of the person in question, and from the dropdown menu choose which permissions you want to give them. Choosing everything but Manage Users is key if you want a developer to be able to get the code he needs and set your site all up.

There you go!
